Speaker to discuss student engagement and learning
Todd Zakrajsek will speak at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Little Theatre at the K-State Student Union about his research on student engagement and learning.
Zakrajsek is the executive director of the Academy of Educators in the School of Medicine and an associate professor in the family medicine department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Research is emerging at an accelerated pace, demonstrating that learning takes place when the student's mind actively engages in the material. A primary issue at hand is how to turn that research into classroom strategies that work, regardless of the discipline or specific content.
Participants in this event on Friday will leave with strategies that can be put to immediate use, all based on evidence regarding how students learn. Zakrajsek's book "The New Science of Learning" will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
Register to attend the lecture.
