Education association provides future teachers with professional development, free pizza
Kansas National Education Association-Student Program is having a free pizza meeting for association members and those future teachers interested in becoming members at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, in the K-State Student Union's KS Ballroom.
It will be a meeting you do not want to miss. Three panels of professionals who can answer your questions about what you really want to know about teaching will be available:
- A panel of administrators who can answer your questions about what schools are looking for and how to nail your interview.
- A teacher panel with new and seasoned teachers to share their experiences and advice on becoming the best teacher possible.
- A specialists panel with gifted and English language learners teachers, a school social worker and an instructional coach to give you a peek into what your other options are or how you can work with these individuals to better your students.
We also will be collecting clothes for the FIT Closet — a part of USD 383 that benefits free-and-reduced students, providing clothes and necessities to more than 2,000 students in Manhattan. Read the list of items needed. Please, be generous to the kids of the Manhattan district who need your support.
I would also like to meet with all who are interested in becoming a tutor in the Manhattan-Ogden School District this semester. If you emailed me of you interest in tutoring, please try to make it to the meeting so we can discuss your tutoring opportunities.
This is a big meeting; please don't miss out. As always we will have a door prize, and the meeting counts as an hour of professional development. And did I mention the free pizza?
If you are not a member of the association, please consider being one. Make sure you select the student membership and the K-State chapter. We are the cheapest "college credit" around, with $20 a year providing you six seminars and countless opportunities to volunteer and grow in your education — and not to mention a $1 million liability policy for student teaching, which is mandatory. Please allow us to provide necessary events and opportunities for you through your membership.
