Apply now to Powercat Financial Counseling
K-State's Powercat Financial Counseling program is accepting applicants for peer financial counselors or Powercat Financial Counseling Student Advisory Board members.
Student Advisory Board members are volunteers that help market the services of Powercat Financial Counseling and create fun campus events about financial literacy like "Thrifty Gifting," and "Spring Break! NOT Spring Broke!" Any major may apply for the Powercat Financial Counseling Student Advisory Board. Members will gain experience in marketing, event planning and financial education.
Peer financial counselors provide individual counseling and financial presentations to students after a semesterlong training session. Applicants must be in a financial-related major and should demonstrate an interest in increasing the financial literacy of fellow students and educating others by sharing in knowledge learned through the process of training and their coursework. This position comes with commitment and responsibility as well as great experience and exposure for the counselor along the way. Counselors will receive compensation once training requirements are complete. Approximately 12 students serve as peer financial counselors during an academic year. Professionals often comment how beneficial an experience such as being a peer counselor would have been to them, and would be for a potential hire in the financial services field.
Applications and information about these two Powercat Financial Counseling student involvement opportunities can be obtained on the Powercat Financial Counseling website. Applications for both positions will be due to the Powercat Financial Counseling office in the K-State Student Union Office of Student Activities before 5 p.m. Friday, March 6.
Please call Jodi Kaus, Powercat Financial Counseling director, at 532-2889 if you have any questions about these exceptional opportunities.
