Donate out-of-use textbooks to the K-State Books for Africa book drive
Submitted by Brent Fritzemeier
Are you tired of piles of books that haven't been used in years taking up space in your office? Donate your unused books to the K-State Books for Africa book drive, a student-led philanthropy that is collecting books for donation to the Books for Africa nonprofit organization.
The drive, which is being organized by the Dean's Student Advisory Council in the College of Business Administration, is accepting donations of books that were published from 2000-present. Drop-off locations will be available through the end of the semester in Calvin, Waters and Seaton halls.
Over the summer, the collected books will be shipped to the Books for Africa distribution center. Books for Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 34 million books to 49 different countries since 1988. Over the past 12 months, they have shipped 2.4 million books, 665 computers and 200 e-readers containing 1.6 million digital books, as well as five new law and human rights libraries to 21 African countries.
For more information about drop-off locations, contact Susan Shuman at smshuman@k-state.edu or 785-532-6953. To schedule an individualized pickup, email Patrick Kennedy at pkennedy94@k-state.edu.
