Kansas Board of Regents Oct. 19 meeting updates
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
The monthly Kansas Board of Regents meeting on Oct. 19 included some items related to Kansas State University.
The Regents received the first reading of non-budgetary legislative proposals for the 2017 legislative session which included giving authority to Kansas State University to sell three properties:
- 7.5 acres of Marlatt Park on the east side of Seth Child Road.
- 0.838 of an acre of undevelopable land near the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
- The land previously occupied by the Purebred Beef Unit. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security requested the movement of the Purebred Beef Unit from the property immediately adjoining the NBAF site for security purposes.
K-State's weapons policy was presented to the Board Governance Committee. The Board of Regents will not take action until policies from all six universities are presented.
