Intersession and internship opportunity
Looking for an interesting way to spend your winter break? Engineering extension is offering a January intersession course, Industrial Environmental Sustainability Practices, for credit or no credit.
The intersession class provides valuable training for the type of project work conducted by interns participating in the K-State Pollution Prevention Intern Program and can give the applicant an advantage with regard to specific environmental experience. The course provides real-world examples of sustainability efforts by Kansas industries, researched by previous Pollution Prevention interns. Students who attend the intersession course and apply for the Pollution Prevention Intern Program will be given preference.
If you plan to take the course for credit, you can register online or call 800-578-8898 for more information.
If taking the course for no credit, contact David Carter at dcarter@k-state.edu.
In addition to the intersession course, the K-State Pollution Prevention Institute at 2323 Anderson Ave., Suite 300, is now accepting student online applications for its Pollution Prevention Intern Program for summer 2017. The deadline for applications is Jan. 31, 2017.
Students enrolled in engineering or science programs at an accredited college or university in Kansas and who have at least a junior standing by the start of their internship summer, are eligible to apply for an intern position. These paid internships provide students with real-world experience.
Highlights of the P2 intern program include:
- $17/hour during the 11-week summer program.
- Pollution prevention training, with practical exercises and hands-on training.
- Opportunity to work with industry on real-world pollution prevention and engineering projects.
- Case study presentations to representatives of numerous agencies and departments, all of which are prospective employers.
