Community screening of 'Being Mortal' on Wednesday, March 29
The K-State Center on Aging is sponsoring a free community screening of the PBS program "Being Mortal" at 2 p.m Wednesday, March 29, at the Manhattan Public Library. The screening is made possible by a grant from the John and Wauna Harman Foundation in partnership with the Hospice Foundation of America.
"Being Mortal" is a documentary adapted from Atul Gawande's best-selling book, also named "Being Mortal." Both the book and the documentary follow Gawande as he questions how people are making decisions when faced with dying. He is a surgeon, writer and public health researcher who questions how patients make end-of-life decisions and then convey them to their families and medical providers. Go to PBS for more information and a short film trailer.
Following the screening, everyone is invited to stay and participate in a conversation about end-of-life decisions and how to communicate those preferences to their family and medical professionals.
