Graduate Student Appreciation Week starts today

K-State's campuswide Graduate Student Appreciation Week kicks off April 4. Graduate Student Appreciation Week will feature events, activities and free food for graduate students in appreciation for their dedicated service and contributions to the teaching, research, scholarship and outreach for the academic year.

The following events and activities, sponsored by colleges and departments, are part of Graduate Student Appreciation Week:

Monday, April 3

• The Graduate Student Council will host the All Graduate Student Ice Cream Social from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the west side of Eisenhower Hall. 
• The College of Education will have treats available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 3-7 in 17 Bluemont Hall, sponsored by the Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.

Tuesday, April 4

• The curriculum and instruction department will host Meet, Greet, and Eat: Ice Cream Shoppe from 2:30-5 p.m. in 257 Bluemont Hall.
• The K-State Olathe ID Center will be on campus to take photos and print student IDs.
• K-State Olathe will offer coffee and snacks in the Bistro for all students April 4-7.

Wednesday, April 5

• K-State Libraries will offer morning refreshments from 10 a.m. to noon in the graduate student study room, 306 Hale Library.
• The College of Engineering will offer a cupcake social for civil engineering graduate students at 3:30 p.m. in 1027 Durland Hall.
• The College of Engineering will offer breakfast for electrical and computer engineering graduate students. Details will be provided by the electrical and computer engineering department. 
• The College of Engineering will offer a bagel and fruit breakfast for biological and agricultural engineering graduate students from 9-10 a.m. in 147 Seaton Hall.
• The College of Engineering will offer a pizza social for industrial and manufacturing systems engineering graduate students at 1 p.m. in 2078 Rathbone Hall.

Thursday, April 6

• The College of Engineering will offer a pizza lunch for chemical engineering graduate students in 3099A Durland Hall. 
• The College of Human Ecology will offer coffee for graduate students from 8-10:30 a.m. at the Hodgson Student Collaborative Center in Justin Hall.
• Powercat Financial will provide cookies at 1 p.m. in the graduate student study room, 306 Hale Library. Also, peer counselors will be available to provide information on financial topics relevant to graduate students, such as scholarship advice, paying for graduate school, student loan repayment and understanding retirement and benefits.

Friday, April 7

• The College of Engineering will offer an appreciation lunch for computer science graduate students from noon to 1 p.m. in the Paulson Conference Room, 2186 Durland Hall. Registration is required. Email the department to RSVP or for more information. 
• The College of Veterinary Medicine will offer coffee and donuts for graduate students from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Trotter Hall lobby.
• The College of Arts and Sciences will offer an arts and sciences graduate student pizza party with the dean from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in 301 Calvin Hall. RSVP with name and department by April 5 at artsci@k-state.edu. At the event, arts and sciences graduate students will have the opportunity to register for a $500 cash prize to be used for academic purposes, such conference travel.

Tuesday, April 11

• The College of Business Administration will offer a graduate student appreciation lunch with faculty and administrators from 12:30-2 p.m. in 4061 College of Business Administration building.

Friday, April 21

• The College of Agriculture will offer a reception for graduate students of distinction from 11 a.m. to noon in 137 Waters Hall. 

Friday, April 28

• The College of Business Administration will offer a Graduate Students Advisory Council Networking event. Graduate students can contact the college for more information.
