Writing Center workshops and class visits for fall 2017
The Writing Center is open for the fall semester. Bring your writing projects in all courses to the center for feedback.
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for one hour per week of free tutoring from a trained writing consultant. The center tutors writing in all disciplines and genres, including honors projects, presentations, posters, lab reports and dissertations. Students can come to the center to brainstorm, get help with understanding an assignment, or to talk through a piece of writing. Tutoring appointments are available in the Writing Center, 122D English/Counseling Services Building, at various satellite locations such as Hale Library or Radina's, and online. Students can sign up for appointments online.
The Writing Center also will host three workshops for undergraduates this term: "Interpreting Assignments and Assignment Sheets," Sept. 12; "Professional Correspondence," Oct. 3; and "Designing Effective PowerPoints," Nov. 7. It's easy to register at k-state.edu/english/writingcenter/workshops.html.
Outreach to courses and organizations: If you'd like the Writing Center to come to your class or organization to briefly discuss services in a 5-minute presentation, or if you'd like to collaborate on a longer outreach session for your class, please fill out the outreach request form
Work for the Writing Center: Are you an undergraduate student who is a strong writer and/or communicator? The center hires undergraduate students in all disciplines and seeks students with unique perspectives and team-player attitudes. Interested students must take English 500, Writing Center Theory and Practice, which is available every fall. Contact Cydney Alexis at calexis@k-state.edu for more information.
