Now accepting campus applications for the Goldwater Scholarship
Are you a sophomore or junior in a STEM discipline? Are you participating in undergraduate research? If so, you may be an excellent candidate for the Goldwater Scholarship, which awards up to $7,500 a year toward college expenses.
Ideal Goldwater nominees plan to earn a doctorate and seek a career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering, have maintained a 3.8 or higher GPA, and have undergraduate research experience.
As a university, we have the opportunity to nominate four students in engineering, mathematics and/or the natural sciences to compete nationally for the Goldwater. Students nominated to represent K-State in the national competition also will receive $1,000 scholarship from the university for spring 2018.
Campus applications are due on Oct. 16. To request a copy of the campus application, email Jim Hohenbary, the Goldwater faculty representative, at jimlth@k-state.edu. For students wishing to learn more about this opportunity, several Goldwater Information Sessions are offered in 215 Fairchild Hall:
- 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19.
- 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20.
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.
If students have questions or would like to discuss other scholarship options, please contact the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships at 785-532-3422 or visit the website.
