Honors for excellence: K-State Salina students earn awards for outstanding work

Kansas State University Salina is recognizing students for outstanding academic achievements, dedication, leadership or community service in the 2011-2012 school.
Students earning recognition include:
Trista Gorrell, senior in technology management, Centerville, Technology Management Student of the Year; Andrew Hecker, sophomore in technology management, Clay Center, Construction Engineering Technology Student of the Year; Dustin Turner, senior in engineering technology, El Dorado, Mechanical Engineering Technology Student of the Year; Shelby Meyer, junior in family studies and human services, Gypsum, Wildcat Pride for Community Service Award; Kyle Velasquez, senior in professional pilot, Reading, Professional Pilot Student of the Year.
From Salina: April Bonilla, senior in family studies and human services, Family Studies and Human Services Student of the Year; Travis Coleman, senior in computer systems technology, Larry Caldwell Sportsmanship Award; Bryan Hatch, sophomore in electronic and computer engineering technology, Chemistry Student of the Year; and Matthew Stula, senior in electronic and computer engineering technology, Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology Student of the Year.
Steven Pihl, sophomore in engineering technology, Most Inspirational Student of the Year Award, and Eric Swenson, senior in technology management, Wildcat Pride for Community Service Award, both from Smolan; Megan Henderson, senior in professional pilot and technology management, Topeka, Wildcat Pride for Determination Award; Mark Wilson, senior in professional pilot, Wamego, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Student of the Year; and Thomas Yarnall, senior in computer systems technology, Wichita, Computer Systems Technology Student of the Year.
From out of state: Tyler Lewis, sophomore in airport management, Aurora, Colo., Wildcat Pride for Dedication Award; and Russell Richardson, senior in avionics maintenance, Adams, Neb., Aviation Maintenance Student of the Year.
