Sign up for Oxfam hunger banquet at K-State Student Union
The Grain Science Graduate Student Organization, a registered student organization, will host the Oxfam hunger banquet at 6 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Main Ballroom at the K-State Student Union.
The purpose of the Oxfam hunger banquet is to allow people to visualize and gain a better understanding of hunger globally.
Less than 5 percent of the total population worldwide is considered to have food security. Another 10-15 percent are food insecure, but they are able to barely meet their daily needs. This means that most of the world does not have access to the proper amounts of food and water needed to meet their daily nutritional requirements.
Three classes of income will be represented at this event. High income will represent 20 percent of the population, medium income 30 percent, and low income 50 percent. Participants will draw a card upon arrival to determine which class they will be in.
Free will donations of canned food or money is highly encouraged and will be donated to a local food pantry.
Come sign up for the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, and Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the K-State Student Union.
