New Raising your International Profile series features Chuck Rice on Wednesday, March 7
The Office of International Programs presents a new series called "Raising Your International Profile." The first presentation will feature Charles "Chuck" W. Rice, university distinguished professor, from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in 206 K-State Student Union.
"This series is perfect for those new faculty and/or graduate teaching assistants who are looking for opportunities to learn more from existing K-State faculty with outstanding international experience," said Marcellus Caldas, assistant provost for international faculty collaboration and educational programs in the Office of International Programs. "Increasing international collaboration has been a benchmark for many higher education institutions. I am excited to present this series as one step in the direction of our strategic plan of internationalization."
Rice holds the Mary L. Vanier University Professorship at K-State and is a professor of soil microbiology in the agronomy department. Earning his degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Kentucky, Rice teaches courses and conducts research on soil carbon and nitrogen, soil health, microbial ecology and climate change impacting agricultural and grassland ecosystems. He has advised more than 40 graduate students and 10 postdoctorates, and has more than 200 publications.
The next Raising your International Profile event on Wednesday, April 25, will feature Phillip Klebba, professor and department Head of biochemistry and molecular biophysics.
