Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet comes to K-State March 10
Capturing the sounds and styles of music around the globe, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet will be featured in Kansas State University's McCain Performance Series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in McCain Auditorium.
The Grammy-winning quartet will feature works as diverse as music from the "Time of Cervantes," J.S. Bach's spirited Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 and Brazilian jazz. The highlight of the program will be the Kansas premiere of "Road to the Sun," written for the quartet by guitar legend Pat Metheny. The piece offers groove, ballad, rock and expressionist elements.
The evening's performance is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Paul and Phoebe Warren, who wish to dedicate this event to the longtime service to the campus and community of Mary Ellen and Ralph Titus. All monies from this gift will benefit McCain Auditorium's education and outreach program, which touches the lives of thousands of children and adults each year with inspiring and innovative arts enrichment programs. All ticket-buyers to the show will be invited to a post-show reception in the lobby to honor the Tituses.
Tickets for this McCain Performance Series presentation are available at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428. Tickets for Kansas State University students and kids 18 and under are half-price. Other discounts are available for seniors, military, university faculty and staff, and for groups of 10 or more.
