2018 Parrish Colloquium event today
The history department will host the 2018 Parrish Colloquium lecture at 7 p.m. March 27 at the K-State Alumni Center's Tadtman Boardroom. A reception will start at 6 p.m. Bockers II Catering will provide heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the reception and again after the lecture.
The Parrish Colloquium, which focuses on a religious history topic, is titled "Mission and Empire: Rethinking the Global History of Protestant Missions."
The guest lecturer, David L.M. Onnekink, is assistant professor in early modern international relations at the department of history of the University of Utrecht. He attended the Universiteit Utrecht and the University of York and conducted doctoral research at University College London and the Universiteit Utrecht, where he gained his degree 2004. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities in Edinburgh and a fellow at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. He has taught extensively at the Universities of Utrecht and Leiden and at William and Mary College.
Currently, he is working on "The Dutch in the Early Modern World: The Rise and Fall of a Global Power," Cambridge University Press, 2018.
