College of Education majors will glow with purple pride at welcome picnic
Food, friends, fun and glow sticks. Now that's the way to kick off a school year.
Education majors, in-coming and current students, are invited to the first-ever collegewide welcome picnic where they will meet fellow students, break into squads for some seriously fun team building activities and enjoy a picnic-style dinner served by the faculty. For the grand finale, a drone will fly over the group holding purple glow sticks while forming the word "EDCATS" on the lawn in front of Anderson Hall.

Activities for new students include a brief welcome message from Debbie Mercer, dean of the College of Education. Then, squad leaders will lead students through engaging activities culminating with a procession and walk from the Union to Bluemont Hall for dinner at 7 p.m. in the Holen Courtyard. Faculty, new and returning students are all invited to join the group drone photo at 7:50 p.m.
"K-State is a special place and we want to welcome our newest teacher candidates to the college and welcome back our returning students in a significant way," Mercer said. "This is our way of unifying undergraduates and demonstrating how important all of our students are to the program."
