K-State Athletics to participate in NCAA’s Diversity and Inclusion Campaign

K-State Athletics, as part of its Diversity and Inclusion initiative, will participate in the NCAA’s Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign from Oct. 1-5.
This campaign is a platform for student-athletes, administrators, coaches and fans across the country to start the discussion, speak out on, and promote diversity and inclusion as key elements of student-athlete success. The goal is to use social media to create a dialogue on diversity and inclusion and to communicate the benefit of inclusive environments to the student-athlete experience.
"We are very excited to participate in this campaign and appreciative of the NCAA's efforts in promoting the importance diversity and inclusion," said Arin Dunn, K-State's director of student-athlete development. "This is a tremendous opportunity for K-State Athletics to continue to show our dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive culture."
The campaign, which starts today and runs through Friday, is aimed to use social media to create dialogue on diversity and inclusion as well as bring awareness to the importance of diversity and inclusion. Wildcat student-athletes, coaches and administrators will participate with various components including a video message as well as a week full of social media content.
Each day has a specific theme and includes:
- Monday, Oct. 1: "More Than a Student-Athlete"
- Tuesday, Oct. 2: "Beyond a Label"
- Wednesday, Oct. 3: "The Facts"
- Thursday, Oct. 4: "Diversity is …"
- Friday, Oct. 5: "I Pledge to …"
Keep an eye out for tweets, Instagram and Facebook posts each day for special messages, images and videos pertaining to diversity and inclusion. Fans are encouraged to participate using the hashtags #Familydiverse&together, #Kstatesports and #NCAAInclusion
