In-A-Chord spring concert features contemporary and pop songs in a cappella style
K-State's premiere a cappella group, In-A-Chord, will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at University Christian Church, 2800 Claflin Road. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 online, for $5 from any member of the group, or for $10 at the door.
In-A-Chord's concert will feature more than 20 contemporary/pop songs written in the a cappella style, including a Michael Jackson medley, "This is Me" from "The Greatest Showman," "Somebody to Love" by Queen and more.
Members of the group include Kayleigh Ballesteros, sophomore in psychology and music; Brahm Berry, freshman in music education; Lorenzo Butler, graduate student in music; Andrew Buyle, senior in mechanical engineering; Andy Fitch, sophomore in biology; Sara Flessner, junior in music; Abby Lacy, sophomore in strategic communications; Abbie Lane, senior in communications sciences and disorders; Cooper McGuire, senior in vocal performance; Willie Michaels, senior in vocal performance; Paola Ramirez, sophomore in music education; Lucero Padilla, senior in vocal performance; Lauren Taylor, junior in music theatre; Jacob Thomas, freshman in music composition; Sydney VanDyke, freshman in communication sciences and disorders; and Grace Volker, senior in vocal performance.
In-A-Chord is a student-led ensemble, which is currently under the direction of music managers Lane and McGuire, and Associate Professor Joshua Oppenheim. It performs various gigs throughout the year and a concert each semester. In-A-Chord hosts auditions open to majors and nonmajors each semester. The group rehearses from 3:30-5:20 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
