Faculty leadership opportunities in honors and undergraduate research
Dear Colleagues,
As we transition to our new organizational framework to better support and serve our students from recruitment to graduation, we are hiring a vice provost for student success who will oversee the University Honors Program and Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, both currently without permanent directors. During the coming year, the vice provost for student success will be working with stakeholders to evaluate opportunities for these important programs within the new structure. In the meantime, we must continue to offer and seek to enhance our service to students.
With that purpose, we will conduct internal searches for part-time — 0.5 FTE — faculty directors to provide leadership of the University Honors Program and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry. The faculty directors will collaborate with and assist the incoming vice provost for student success consider strategies and structures that best address institutional goals and the needs of students participating in honors education and undergraduate research.
I believe that creating opportunities for faculty leadership of these programs at this time ensures our ability to deliver quality, high impact learning experiences, and attract and serve a wide range of academically motivated students.
Sincerely,
Charles Taber
Provost and executive vice president
