EdCats take the field with the Wildcats on Saturday
K-State Athletics gets an A+ from the College of Education.
The College Football Playoff Foundation's Extra Yard for Teachers program will honor and promote the teaching profession at this Saturday's game against Bowling Green. Teachers from nearly 100 districts along with K-State EdCats, our undergraduate future teachers, will take the field during pre-game festivities and display the Powercat flag.
Noah Busch, a science teacher at Manhattan-Ogden USD 383, and his intern Melissa Mahoney will participate in the coin toss at the 50-yard line.
The College of Education will distribute EdCat pennants, signs and additional swag to the first 500 people who visit their table outside of gate S.
"This is exciting for so many reasons," said Roger Schieferecke, College of Education assistant dean. "We are elated that teachers are getting the recognition they deserve in such a visible venue. The College Football Playoff Foundation recognizes the importance of elevating the teaching profession, and we are proud that K-State Athletics supports those efforts. Saturday will be a great day to celebrate the success of the Wildcats on the field and the success of EdCats in the classroom."
