10th annual Teaching Workshop
Submitted by Cathie Lavis, associate professor
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, or CATL, and the Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence, or FETE, have set the dates for 2013's 10th Annual Teaching Workshop, S4—Simple Strategies for Student Success.
"With the hectic pace experienced by many faculty, staff and graduate students during the week prior to a new semester, FETE and CATL are doing something new this time — moving the workshop into the second week of the 2013 semester," said Cathie Lavis, associate professor of horticulture, forestry and recreation resources.
The 2013 workshop dates are 1-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, and 9-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 — yes, Saturday morning!
Friday’s agenda will include educational and motivating presentations by Todd Zakrajsek, associate professor in the department of family medicine at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an opportunity for faculty to share one teaching idea that works for them during a five-minute rapid fire session.
On Saturday morning there will be opening remarks by Coach Bill Snyder, a pancake breakfast and a workshop with Zakrajsek.
