Graduate student receives presentation award from the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology

Nick Barts, doctoral candidate in the Division of Biology, received the prestigious Raymond B. Huey Award for best student presentation at the annual meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, which was hosted Jan. 3-7 in Austin, Texas.
Barts presented a talk on the findings of his dissertation research. His work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying fish adaptation to extreme environments in the form of toxic, hydrogen-sulfide-rich springs.
The Raymond B. Huey Award competition is sponsored by the society's Division of Ecology and Evolution.
