One week left: Don't delay — take Climate Survey today
Submitted by Bryan Samuel and Jay Stephens
Greetings K-Staters,
The final day to take the University Climate Survey is getting close. Don't delay — your voice matters!
If you haven't completed the survey, you will receive reminder emails from Viewfinder each day this week. The emails and survey link are legitimate and safe to open.
We have received some great response so far, but we would like these numbers to increase. As of the end of last week, 48.7% of administrators, 32.7% faculty, 33% staff and 11.3% students have completed the survey.
Research backs up the need to complete these surveys, as noted in the excerpt below:
According to "Creating inclusive learning communities," by Christine M. Cress, "While many (universities) recognize the importance of educating college students in ways that facilitate cross-racial and cross-cultural understanding, campuses are struggling with how to make their educational environments hospitable settings for a wide variety of learners. As a result of the recognized importance of diversity, campus leaders continue to scramble to identify the variety of factors that contribute to creating a positive climate for diversity on campus (Hurtado, Milem, ClaytonPedersen, and Allen, 1998). In order to enhance the role of higher education institutions in providing students with the opportunities to learn how to live and work in a complex, diverse society, it is essential that campuses assess the campus climate."
Thank you for your participation,
