Multiple committees focused on diversity and inclusion efforts looking for members
Student Governing Association is currently looking for students to serve in a variety of capacities to help assist with the university's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. SGA is currently appointing student representatives to a variety of committees, groups and task forces across the university, and interested students are invited to apply.
Some of the opportunities that are available include the ability to serve on an SGA committee. These committees include the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, or DEI, and the Diversity Programming Committee, or DPC. The DEI Committee is dedicated to reviewing student government and university policies from a social justice lens. Additionally, DEI serves as a liaison between student government and student affinity groups across campus. DPC serves with allocating funds from the Diversity Programming Fund to student organizations that are hosting events that promote diversity and inclusion on K-State's campus. This committee reviews funding applications and meets individually with student organizations to discuss their funding proposals. Both of these committees are composed exclusively of students leaders.
Some additional university groups are looking for student appointees. These include the President's Commission on the Status of Women, the President's Committee on Spiritual, Religious, and Nonreligious Diversity, and the Educational Opportunity Fund. All of these groups need dedicated student representation.
If you are interested in serving in any of these capacities, please apply through the Student Governing Association At-Large Committee Application. Applications are due at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept 10.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Student Body President Tel Wittmer at telwittmer@k-state.edu or Speaker of the Student Senate Nathan Bothwell at ndbothwell@k-state.edu.
