Student Senate weekly update
Good morning, Wildcats!
Student Senate met once again on Thursday, Sept. 30, in the Wildcat Chamber. Thursday's festivities included the swearing in of new Student Senators, committee members and the first class of Phase 2 SGA interns. Overall, 32 interns will be joining the second phase of the SGA Intern Program to further engage in student government.
In addition to appointments, Student Senate voted to fund travel allocations for the Agricultural Education Club and the College of Agriculture Ambassadors. These organizations will attend the national FFA convention in Indianapolis. If your student organization is interested in applying for travel funds, please contact Jakob Long at jakobl@k-state.edu.
Finally, Student Senate introduced three pieces of legislation, including changing the funds allocation process in Student Senate, fixing grammar mistakes in the SGA constitution, and changing the student body president and vice president election to an instant runoff format. This change would eliminate the current primary and general election system that Student Government uses for elections, and allow for only one election. If you have any thoughts or feedback on this initiative, please contact Andrew Booze at awbooze@k-state.edu.
Student Senate will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
