Casey Lauer named associate vice president for facilities

Submitted by Tara Fronce

Casey Lauer has been named the associate vice president for facilities, effective immediately, following a national search. Lauer has served as the interim associate vice president for facilities since November 2021.

As associate vice president, Lauer will provide leadership and oversight for the Division of Facilities. He will oversee facilities operations, services and utilities, in addition to campus planning and project management. In this role, he will serve as the primary liaison to campus, the Kansas Board of Regents, the KSU Foundation and the city of Manhattan on facilities-related matters.

“I’m thrilled and excited to begin this new chapter and appreciate the opportunity to continue leading the Division of Facilities during such an exciting time. Our campus and community are truly special,” Lauer said.

Lauer joined the Division of Facilities in 2010 as the director of energy and environment programs before being promoted to assistant vice president in 2014. Before joining K-State, he spent time as an engineer with Johnson Controls and the Kansas Corporation Commission.

“Casey has a wealth of institutional knowledge related to the physical infrastructure of campus,” said Ethan Erickson, chief financial officer and interim vice president and chief operating office. “He’s an exceptional leader and has worked diligently to promote a culture of accountability and teamwork within the Division of Facilities. I look forward to his continued leadership to address key university initiatives.”

Lauer holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and is a licensed professional engineer, a certified energy manager, facility operating engineer and general building contractor.
