KSRE's Living Well Wednesday series to feature Spanish-only programming this fall
The virtual learning series Living Well Wednesday, hosted by K-State Research and Extension, will launch fall programming on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Wellness is defined broadly through this series, which includes topics that relate to physical, mental, financial and relationship health.
All programs are offered from 12:15-1 p.m. via Zoom. There is no cost to participate, but registration is required. You can register for any, or all, of the first three programs in the series at bit.ly/KSRE-Programas.
In fall 2022, the first three sessions will be offered in Spanish only. The remaining sessions on Nov. 9, 30 and Dec. 14, will provide English and Spanish options and topics will be announced soon.
Spanish only program offerings:
Sept. 28: "Connecting Cultures," presented by Elizabeth Brunscheen-Cartagena, Sedgwick County extension agent. Brunscheen-Cartagena will explore ways to keep your cultural roots alive as you start a new beginning in a new country.
Oct. 12: "Chronic Illness — Prevention and Management" will address the leading causes of chronic illnesses for the Latino population. Isla Alvarez and Crystal Rodriguez, public health educators through the Community Health Workers program at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, will share strategies and lifestyle changes that can help reduce or prevent chronic illnesses.
Oct. 26: "Survive, Strive and Thrive!" Elizabeth Brunscheen-Cartagena is back with a program to help parents gain confidence in their ability to be good parents and gain the skills and attitudes necessary for rearing healthy, positive children, ages 3-16.
