K-State Bands host successful Concert Band Clinic
The K-State Bands hosted the 30th annual Concert Band Clinic Jan. 20-22, the first in-person clinic since January 2020.
More than 550 high school students from across the Midwest arrived on campus Jan. 20, auditioned to be in one of six honor bands and began rehearsals with six nationally renowned guest conductors.
K-State instrumental music faculty and students worked with the guests over the weekend while their band directors attended sessions presented by the guest conductors. Clinic guests were treated to an afternoon concert on Jan. 21 by the K-State Wind Ensemble under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands and clinic coordinator. All six honor bands performed concerts in McCain Auditorium on Jan. 22.
Special thanks to the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and McCain Auditorium for their help with this year’s clinic.
Mark your calendar for Jan. 19-21, 2024, for the 31st annual Concert Band Clinic.
