Wallace Kidd Diversity Award recipients announced
The 2023 recipients of the eighth biennial Wallace Kidd Memorial Diversity Award are Mary Ellen Barkley, assistant director for the K-State Career Center and liaison to the colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, and Andrew Barkley, professor of agricultural economics in the College of Agriculture.
Both recipients were selected by the K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, or MANRRS, chapter for their dedication and efforts to aid in the success of minority students in the K-State College of Agriculture.
An award reception will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Rooms 204/205 of the Multicultural Student Center, or via Zoom ID: 916 8304 9883. Please RSVP and join in celebrating the work of these deserving recipients. The event is co-hosted by the K-State MANRRS chapter and the College of Agriculture/KSRE Diversity Programs Office. Thank you to Scoular for sponsoring the event.
The Wallace Kidd Diversity Award is in memory of Wallace Ray Kidd, the first African American graduate from entomology at K-State and trailblazer for underrepresented students at K-State and in the Manhattan Community. Learn more about Kidd.
To commemorate Kidd's commitment to diversity, inclusion and education, the Wallace Kidd Memorial Diversity Award was established by the K-State MANRRS chapter in 2005. The chapter thanks the Kidd family and the Manhattan NAACP for sharing his story and their continued support of K-State's chapter.
