Ruth Welti to present Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics Seminar today
Submitted by Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics
Ruth Welti, university distinguished professor of biology at K-State, will be the speaker for this week's Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics Seminar. Welti will present "Using mass spectrometry-based lipidomics to gain insight into plant lipid metabolism" at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, in 120 Ackert Hall.
Welti is the director of the Kansas Lipidomics Research Center, which runs a fee-for-service lipid profiling service. Her lab focuses on understanding plant lipid metabolism during stress responses and in seeds. She will discuss the use of lipidomics to identify the function of genes, associate lipids and their metabolism with plant functions and identify novel lipids.
