ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series presents Kiho Lee
The ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series and Morgan Zumbaugh, assistant professor in the animal sciences and industry department, will host Kiho Lee, associate professor of animal sciences at the University of Missouri.
Lee will present "Genome editing in livestock — current progress and possibilities" at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Room 114 of the Leadership Studies Building.
Lee's current research is focused on genetic engineering in pigs for the purposes of establishing valuable preclinical animal models and to better understand the biology of pigs. Using recent developments in genome editing systems, Lee has been researching the generation of pig models that can bridge findings from conventional laboratory animals to clinical tests. Due to their similar physiology to humans, clinically designed equipment and treatment options can be more accurately tested.
