New performance management process forms for classified staff employees
A new performance management form for classified staff has been developed by a governor's cabinet sub-team in response to complaints and questions about the current form. This new shortened version was created based upon feedback from managers and supervisors across the state.
This new form is intended to be far more user friendly for both supervisors and employees, while retaining the most critical elements necessary for an accurate assessment. The new performance review form contains two pages that are required to be completed, along with optional pages that can be added as the supervisor desires.
While the performance review form itself has been drastically revamped, the performance management process remains much the same, with mid-review discussions for permanent employees taking place between April 1 and June 30, and annual evaluations due between Oct. 1 and Dec. 23 every year. The most critical changes to this appraisal process are how the objectives and competencies portion of the review are used.
The new form must be used for any new performance review cycles beginning Oct. 1, 2013, or later. The current form will be used for any performance review cycles beginning before that date — e.g., 2013 annual reviews for permanent employees.
Further guidance on this new performance review form will be provided as follows:
- Information sessions for managers and supervisors begin in mid-September. A complete schedule is available on the Employee Performance Review System training page.
- Separate informational sessions will be held for employees on Oct. 1 and 2.
You may enroll in one of two ways:
- Through HRIS Self Enrollment, or
- Email training@k-state.edu. Please include your name, employee ID number, course title and session number.
