Electric cars, smart grid and more: Electrical Power Affiliates Program Day to feature experts, corporate representatives
All are invited to attend K-State's Electrical Power Affiliates Program day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the engineering atrium between Rathbone and Fiedler halls.
Corporate representatives from the program will be in attendance including: Burns & McDonnell, Fishnet Security, Kansas City Power & Light, Omaha Public Power District, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories , Sega and Westar Energy. Technical and human resources representatives from the companies will also be in attendance to discuss career opportunities and collaborations with students as well as present in many engineering classes throughout the day.
Students are encouraged to sign up for mock interviews with the seven companies through their Career and Employment Services accounts. There will also be a free lunch at noon Wednesday and prizes given away throughout the day. Electrical Power Affiliates Program day will conclude with a reception beginning at 3 p.m. in the engineering atrium.
This year, Electrical Power Affiliates Program day will feature an early career engineers panel at 2 p.m. in Fiedler Auditorium. The panel will discuss challenges for graduates just entering the industry as well as challenges facing the industry in the next three to five years. All students are invited to attend.
An intern panel and networking session will be at 6 p.m. today in Fiedler Auditorium, Fiedler Hall. The panel participants will discuss the experiences they had during their internships. All engineering students interested in internship possibilities are welcome. After the panel, there will be a networking session in the engineering atrium as well as free pizza.
