Making connections, getting involved and embracing traditions can help make this semester great. Now that the excitement of move-in, Week of Welcome and the first week of classes is over, take the time to meet your peers and build community outside of the classroom.

The Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs has multiple ways that you can get more involved on campus. Take some practical steps to make your fall semester more enriching.

  • Join a student organization — With more than 400 student organization on campus, there's a group for everyone. Whether it's an organization focused on your academic interests or your personal passions, a student organization is a great way to meet others, gain leadership experience and explore your interests. Dig up the notes you took during Week of Welcome's Activities Carnival and make a plan to join the student org that is most interesting to you. Browse student orgs at orgcentral.k-state.edu.
  • Complete the Cat Trax checklist — make the most of your time at K-State by participating in experiences that help you get involved, find things to do and earn rewards along the way! Cat Trax outlines specific actions you can take to make new friends, build important skills, practice well-being and support your overall academic and career goals! Get started today at orgcentral.k-state.edu/cattrax.
  • Attend an event at the K-State Student Union — The Union is an influential hub and key component in shaping the K-State experience. A place where students are encouraged to gather, lead and collaborate as they maximize their Wildcat experience. Whether it's meeting friends for lunch, attending a show or going bowling, you're sure to have a great time at the Union. Check out their upcoming events at union.k-state.edu/whats-happening.
  • Take a group fitness class at the Rec Center — Unwind with Recreational Services. Group fitness classes, intramural sports, a climbing wall and personal training are available to all K-State students. Better yet, most of these services are offered for free to students. View all services at recservices.k-state.edu.
  • Meet others who celebrate you — Connect with Student Belonging and Inclusion to access resources, student orgs, scholarships and events that work to create a campus atmosphere where all K-Staters feel welcomed and valued. You can also stop by the First-generation Student Center or Spectrum Center for even more resources.
  • Connect with others in your residence hall — Living on campus can lead to lifelong friendships. Get to know other students in your residence hall at an upcoming event. And you don't have to live on campus to share a meal with friends at one of K-State's recently renovated dining centers. Housing and Dining Services can answer all your questions at housing.k-state.edu.
