Join AI-themed book club and generativeAI 'sandbox'
Submitted by Theresa Merrick Cassidy
Please join faculty members Cydney Alexis and Theresa Merrick Cassidy for their fall AI-themed book club on "Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning," by José Antonio Bowen and C. Edward Watson.
This informal book club, which will take place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, on Zoom, is part of our yearlong series on "Teaching with AI" and sponsored by a K-State GRIPex: AI in the Disciplines grant. You can register for the book club now; a registration reminder will also be sent a week before the event.
The book can be purchased with a 30% discount on José Antonio Bowen's Teaching Naked website. The audiobook is also accessible for free through Hale Library.
No prior experience with AI is necessary for this informal discussion, but we encourage anyone interested to view our past introductory presentation, "Teaching with AI: A Plan to Adapt and Innovate Your Teaching this Year," part of K-State's Teaching and Learning Center's fall 2024 professional development series.
All are also welcome to join the upcoming generative AI "sandbox," which will offer a casual and safe space to experiment with genAI tools, from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, on Zoom. The registration link will follow via K-State Today the week before the event.
Alexis and Merrick Cassidy are faculty in the English department, in the College of Arts and Sciences.
