Turfgrass Information

Capriccio Stipa, Stipa Lessingiana

Big Bluestem

This grass has a very fine texture and flowing look to it. The plot that was grown in the annual flower trial received water each week and fertilizer every 2 weeks (i.e. higher maintenance plan) and it’s evident that that made a difference. Keeps some winter interest.

The second year of trialing this grass produced similar results. It did not flourish, but does provide some interesting texture. The plants grown at the K-State Research station in Hays, KS looked much better, and clearly preferred the soil and climate of that area over Olathe.
