Eastern Gamma Grass, Tripsacum Dactyloides

Example of Tripsacum Dactyloides

This grass has really neat, large seed heads. It had a strong first year with lush green growth. Often used as a forage grass, it has good potential for an ornamental variety as well. Does not keep its foliage very well for winter interest.

The plants grew very quickly in the second season, to the point of overwhelming their allotted space. It’s definitely a grass that needs room to grow.
