AFROTC Detachment 270 boasts multiple organizations available for cadets to participate in. These organizations help promote professional and personal development and civic awareness while honoring the legacy and traditions of the United States Air Force.
Arnold Air Society
Arnold Air Society (AAS) is an honorary professional service organization advocating the support of aerospace power. The Vorhies Squadron is most well known for its support of K-State's Vietnam Veterans Memorial, its community service events, its efforts to increase local awareness of America's POWs and MIA personnel, and its Veterans Day 24-hour Silent Guard.
The Vorhies Squadron prides itself on the AAS mission: "To create outstanding Air Force officer candidates through the implementation of additional training while working as a society to further the purpose, traditions and concepts of the United States Air Force."
Honor Guard
Honor Guard is to venerate the legacy of those who have come before and honor their legacy and service through the presentation and escorting of the colors at various events.
Moreover, it teaches cadets the proper ways to handle the flag and the importance it has within our nation's history. At Kansas State University, the AFROTC Honor Guard presents the colors at various events including, but not limited to, football games, basketball games, fraternities, community events, and much more!
Silver Wings
Silver Wings (SW) is a national, professional organization dedicated to creating proactive, knowledgeable, and effective civic leaders through community service and education about national defense. As a sister organization to AAS, we help support their efforts. Furthermore, through chapter activities, national events, and community service, SW helps to promote professional and personal development, and civic awareness to its members and those around us.
The National Society of Pershing Rifles Company G-7
The purpose of the National Society of Pershing Rifles is to develop, to the highest degree possible, outstanding traits of leadership, military science, military bearing, and discipline within the framework of a military oriented, honorary fraternity.
