WHEAT TAXONOMY
Classification of Triticum according to Dorofeev et al. 1979, with nomenclatural corrections.
Although the most current monographic treatment of Triticum, the Dorofeev et al. classification [reference] is largely unknown outside of Russia. The classification is controversial, because species status is given to all major domesticated wheats and subspecific or varietal ranking is given to all recognizable morphological forms. Only the species classification is presented here.
