We learned about our emotions by watching how our parents expressed how they felt. Research shows that angry children typically live in families where parents show a lot of anger. We might have learned about gentleness and expressing affection by how our parents related to our baby brother. Children are more likely to do what their parents do. Not only does this affect what children do, this observational learning can affect what they believe.
