Here is a bit of homework for you to do. Go to the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission website. Click on “Carnegie Medal Awardees 1904-Present” at the top of the page. If you live in the United States or Canada, type in the name of your city in the search form and then “search.” If no records appear, type in the name of a larger nearby city and repeat. Click on the names that appear and examine what they did.

If you live outside of the United States or Canada, browse the Carnegie site and examine reports of current recipients.
