Overview
of Workshop
In light of recent events, it is now time
for our nation to reexamine the meaning of true heroism and to teach
our children about the importance and costs of courage.
In this workshop, particpants will learn
how true courage and heroism originate in early childhood. Developmentally-appropriate
family and classroom practices will be discussed. The importance
of parents and teachers collaborating to nurture courage in children
will be emphasized.
As a result of this workshop, participants
will:
* Review their teaching and parenting practices for their potential
impact on the development of courage.
* Observe children for evidence of courage in their everyday lives.
* Incorporate themes of courage in storytime and group activities.
