Dial-in Internet Access Providers in Manhattan, Kansas, and beyond
These provide dial-up connections(via your modem) to the internet. Generally there is a local phone number giving access (sometimes more than one), and an 800-number for access from anywhere in the US (rates for using this can be somewhat higher). They also provide you with all the software necessary for doing e-mail and web-browsing from your computer via their service. (In the case of KSU Telecommunications, these will be part of a bundled software package called the CatPack. With some service providers, you have options about different e-mail programs.) All offer a variety of pricing options.
At the bottom of the page I have listed several places that offer free browser-based e-mail service. But to use them, you first have to be connected to the internet via some internet access provider.

This includes messages sent to you via a course listserv and messages sent by people who found your address on the campus web White Pages, which so far only lists accounts @ksu.edu. Being careless about this could be quite harmful to your interests! Read here to find out how to avoid this.
