Employment as an Hourly Student

Enrolled in 6 hours for Spring

May be hired any time

Pre-enrolled for fall in at least 6 hours

Appointment may be effective May 16 or after

Enrolled in summer for any number of hoursAppointment may be effective May 16 or after

Graduating or not returning in the fallMust be terminated before classes start in the fall - prior to August 22, 2021

F1 or J1 visa holders may be employed 05/16/2021 if they have been enrolled in no fewer than six hours in the spring or any number of hours in the summer.

Criteria for Employment as a Graduate Student

Enrolled in at least 3 hours during summer if not enrolled in spring

Appointment may b e effective May 16 or after

Enrolled in fall only

May be hired effective August 8, 2021 (classes begin the week of August 22)

Graduating

Termination date must be before or at the end of spring semester
- May 15, 2021

Not returning in fall for a reason other than graduation

Termination date must be before classes start in the fall
- prior to August 22, 2021

Graduate Student - Hours of Work for Summer 2021

Criteria

FTE/Hours of Work

Maximum 0.5 FTE for all grad appointments 

Hours of work determined by FTE
(example: 0.5 FTE = 20 hours per week)

May hold graduate student and hourly concurrently
- 0.6 FTE maximum
(Excluding non-residents who cannot exceed 0.5 FTE between combined student appointments)

Limited to 30 hours per week

When classes not in sessionMay work 40 hours per week

Maximum allowable FTE between combined graduate appointments is .5 FTE. A graduate student may hold an additional .1 FTE hourly student appointment for a maximum of .6 FTE between all combined graduate and hourly student appointments. Students who hold an F1 or J1 Visa are limited to .5 FTE between combined graduate student and hourly student appointments.

College Work Study Program Dates

The Federal Work-Study program at K-State is the College Work Study Program (CWSP) administered by the K-State Office of Student Financial Assistance.
