Healthy Communities: Navigating Colonization and Restoring Indigenous Lifeways
The K-State Indigenous Faculty and Staff Alliance would like to invite you to save Monday, October 14th (K-State Ballroom; Student Union; Manhattan, KS) on your calendars for K-State's 2024 Indigenous Peoples Day! (Flier below - share widely). As usual, a Kansas Association for Native American Education (KANAE) Fall Meeting will follow the events. Our Theme is Healthy Communities: Navigating Colonization and Restoring Indigenous Lifeways.
Speakers include Diné Director of the Indian Health Service, Washington, D.C., within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Roselyn Tso, and Osage filmmaker, Photographer, graphic designer, screenwriter on Reservation Dogs, Co-founder of the 1491s, Ryan RedCorn. Lunch will be catered by Indigenous chef Jason Champagne and will feature a short film “Creator Gives Us Language: A Story of Rematriating Kanza Íe,” made in partnership with the Kaw Nation citizens and the Kansas Land Treaties Project.
