Brotherhood and Sisterhood
Joint Requirements
Membership requirements for both Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi includes a selection process based on GPA, attendance at sponsored events, and standings with fellow sisters and brothers.
Previous to this event, the new brothers and sisters attend a series of classes where they learn about Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. During this process, the new members are assigned a Big Brother/Sister to help guide them as well as a Mom/Dad, the identity of which is kept a secret until families, when the new members guess who their families are based on clues given to them in the weeks prior!
After everyone's families are revealed, presents are exchanged and everyone gets together, bonds over delicious food, and celebrates the new brothers and sisters of our organizations!
Sisterhood in Tau Beta Sigma
Tau Beta Sigma’s Mission Statement:
We provide exceptional service to collegiate bands and promote equality and diversity, including empowering women in the band profession. We cultivate leadership, educational achievement, music appreciation and community development.
Tau Beta Sigma believes in Sisterhood in the Band. Recent sisterhood events have included:
- Girl's Nights Out
- Movie night
- Chocolate Fantasy night
- Joint information night
- "Families" Big/Little Sister Reveal

Brotherhood in Kappa Kappa Psi
Kappa Kappa Psi's Mission Statement:
Kappa Kappa Psi is a co-educational fraternal organization that advances college and university bands for the benefit of its members and society through dedicated service and support to bands, encouragement of musical growth, lifelong educational experiences, leadership opportunities, and recognition.
