With your list in hand, you’re ready to save time AND money at the store. How many of these pro shopping tips do you practice?

  • Stick to your list

Now that you have carefully written your grocery list, be sure you follow it! Avoid adding unlisted (and likely unneeded!) items to your cart.

  • Buy seasonal

Compare prices in the produce section. Depending on the time of year, your location, and even the weather, you are likely to see real savings if you target fruit and vegetables that are in season. See Seasonal and Simple App, website: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/seasonal-and-simple/id533491491

  • Read the label

The Nutrition Facts Label exists to help you, the shopper/consumer, make more informed, healthier food choices.

  • Buy in bulk, and use coupons, only if it makes sense

Is the 10# bag of potatoes much cheaper per pound than the 3# bag? If so, it might be a real bargain to buy 10#, but NOT if you cook for only one or two people and may not use the potatoes before they go bad. On the other hand, avoid buying small containers and single-serve condiments or beverages if you need a large quantity – you will end up spending more on extra packaging.
