Mary Hubbard, Ph.D.
Department of Geology
Professor Hubbard uses satellite images to study geological fault structures. There are limitations of exclusively using satellite imagery (locally thick soil cover, local knowledge of stratigraphy, etc.). Thus, her research involves comparing geologic maps produced from satellite images with those produced by more traditionally methods, specifically field-based mapping techniques. Regions of studied comparisons in southeast Kansas and the southern Rocky Mountains have indicated the two mapping techniques are remarkably similar.
