Milostan selected as peer reviewer for The Forum on Education Abroad's Quality Improvement Program

Submitted by Brent Holliday

Joe Milostan, director of Education Abroad, was recently selected as a peer reviewer for The Forum on Education Abroad's Quality Improvement Program, or QUIP. The program is the only objective, independent review system in education abroad based on the Forum on Education Abroad's Standards of Good Practice.

Milostan joins a group of about 30 peer reviewers, comprised of experienced education abroad professionals from around the country.

"We are very proud to have Joe Milostan selected as a peer reviewer," said Grant Chapman, associate provost for international programs. "Joe's work on education abroad higher education issues and topics at Kansas State is being recognized and valued nationally as evidenced by this selection."

As part of the QUIP process, peer reviewers examine education abroad operations at organizations and institutions under review and make judgments about whether these organizations and institutions are in substantial conformity with the Forum on Education Abroad's individual Standards of Good Practice.

"I'm excited about my selection as a peer reviewer and am looking forward to assisting other schools and organizations in improving their education abroad programming," Milostan said. "In 2014, K-State Education Abroad went through a Capacity Review with the Forum on Education Abroad, which is very similar to the QUIP Review. I really enjoyed the experience of evaluating K-State's Education Abroad programming with the Capacity Review peer reviewers. It's also been rewarding to initiate and oversee the improvements we've made to Education Abroad programming at K-State. I'm very excited to be on the other end of that process and help colleagues make improvements to their Education Abroad administration."
