Submitted by Trina K. Knight

Peter Kraska

Peter Kraska, a leading scholar in the areas of policing and criminal justice militarization, will give a guest lecture at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in 126 Leadership Studies Building.

He is the author of seven books and has been a contributor to New York Times, "60 Minutes," National Public Radio and more. He recently testified before the U.S. Senate on the topic of police militarization.

In his presentation, "5 Myths About Police Militarization," Kraska plans to discuss five myths about police militarization and will inform attendees about the current state of police militarization, the 1003 program that provides police forces with military-grade equipment, and the larger societal impact of militarized policing.

This event is sponsored by the sociology, anthropology and social work department and the Sociology Graduate Student Association, and it is open to all members of the K-State community.
